John Lennon later stated he wrote the lyrics of the song to express his stress after the Beatles’ quick rise to success. “I was fat and depressed and I was crying out for ‘Help’.”

1963 (Aug 6) – Beatles Arrive in Channel Islands
08/06/2025 @ All Day – The Beatles arrived in Jersey in the Channel Islands, where they spent the day go-carting and relaxing by the pool at The Revere Hotel before playing the first of four nights at the Springfield Ballroom. Some fans had found out where they were staying, but they were happy to chat and be photographed with them.
1965 (Aug 6) – Beatles Release Help!
08/06/2025 @ All Day – The Beatles released their fifth album and soundtrack to their second film Help! which included the title track, ‘The Night Before’, ‘You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away’, ‘You’re Going to Lose That Girl’, ‘Ticket to Ride’ and ‘Yesterday’.

1980 (Aug 7) – John Begins Recording ‘Double Fantasy’
08/07/2025 @ All Day – John Lennon began recording his final album, ‘Double Fantasy’ at The Hit Factory, in New York City. It would be released on November 17th by the newly-formed Geffen Records and would win the 1982 Grammy Award for Album of the Year.

1963 (Aug 8) – Beatles Arrive in Guemsey
08/08/2025 @ All Day – The Beatles arrived in Guernsey in The Channel Islands, where they played two shows at Candie Gardens. They arrived in a 12-seater plane after making the 30 mile trip from Jersey, (their equipment was sent over by ferry). The Beatles would receive the sum of £1000 (approx.$1,600) for the two shows.
