08/01/2025 @ All Day – It’s the heyday of the harmonica, as the industry publication Billboard points out that The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones and Stevie Wonder have all had hits with the instrument.

1998 (Aug 2) – Beatles ‘Favourite Recording Artist Of All Time’
08/02/2025 @ All Day – The Beatles are named “Favourite Recording Artist Of All Time” in a poll conducted by the UK music magazine Mojo, beating out Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Queen, and Elton John in that order.

08/02/2025 @ All Day – The Beatles appeared at the Gaumont Cinema in Bournemouth. One of the supporting acts, billed as a ‘new and unknown London group’, was The Kinks.
2000 (Aug 2) – Beatles Supplier Rushworth and Dreaper Closes
08/02/2025 @ All Day – Liverpool music store Rushworth and Dreaper closed down after 150 years of trading. The store had become famous after supplying The Beatles and other Liverpool group’s with musical instruments.
1939 (Aug 3) – ‘Temporary Drummer’ Jimmy Nicol Born
08/03/2025 @ All Day – Jimmy Nicol, drummer, temporary member of The Beatles for nine Australian gigs in 1964, after Ringo Starr collapsed and was hospitalised on 3 June 1964 with tonsillitis. George Martin suggested Nicol, as he had recently played on a budget label album called “Beatlemania” and knew the songs.
1963 (Aug 3) – Beatles First Appearance on Billboard Chart
08/03/2025 @ All Day – The Beatles show up on a Billboard chart for the first time when “From Me to You” bubbles under on the Hot 100, reaching a peak of #116 the following week. Their US breakthrough doesn’t happen until January 1964, when “I Want To Hold Your Hand” rises up the chart, hitting #1 in February.
