1946 (Sep 2) - Beatles Collaborator Billy Preston Born

Billy Preston is born in Houston, Texas. He is raised in Los Angeles, California. Aside from being a sought-after session musician for acts like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, the affable performer with the gap-toothed grin becomes a star in his own right with a number of funky hits throughout the ’70s.

1964 (Sep 2) - Beatles in Philadelphia

On tour in the USA The Beatles appeared at The Convention Hall, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.   Days before the concert, Philadelphia had experienced race-riots,  The Beatles, who were Civil Rights supporters, were shocked to see that their audience of 13,000 was completely white.

2008 (Feb 20) - Beatles' Autographed Rolling Stones Album Auctioned

A 1976 Rolling Stones album bought for £2 at a car boot sale sold for £4,000 at an auction. The ‘Black and Blue’ LP was signed by John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Paul and Linda McCartney and George Harrison as well as members of the Rolling Stones. The seller obtained the album after haggling the cost down from £3.

1962 (Sep 3) - From 'The Cavern' to 'The Queen's Hall'

After playing a lunchtime show at The Cavern Club in Liverpool, The Beatles played the first of three Monday night gigs at The Queen’s Hall, Widnes, Cheshire. Also on the bill, Billy Kramer and the Coasters, Rory Storm and the Hurricanes and Sonny Kaye and the Reds. Tickets cost 3/6.
