1962 - Beatles Top Merseybeat Popularity Poll


Liverpool’s Mersey Beat published its first popularity poll, with The Beatles place first, and Gerry and the Pacemakers voted second.

1962 (Jun 6) - First Beatles Recordings at What Will Become 'Abbey Road'

The first Beatles recording session took place at EMI studios. The group recorded four tracks, one of which was ‘Love Me Do’ the four musicians received payments for the session of £7.10 ($12.07) each.

1966 (Feb 18) - Brian Wilson Finishes 'Good Vibrations'

Beach Boy Brian Wilson finished recording the future classic song ‘Good Vibrations’, which went on to become the band’s third US number-one hit. As a child, his mother told him that dogs could pick up “vibrations” from people, so that the dog would bark at “bad vibrations” Wilson turned this into the general idea for the song.

1969 - 'Disc and Music Echo' Predict New Beatle Releases


Disc and Music Echo, a British music weekly, report that The Beatles were to release five new albums. One would be their first ever live album plus four separate LP’s, each one the choice of Lennon, McCartney, Harrison and Starr.

1970 - Final Studio Appearance For The Beatles Recording 'Let It Be'


The Beatles (minus John Lennon) re-record vocals and a new guitar solo for ‘Let It Be’ at Studio Two, EMI Studios, London. This session will be the final studio appearance for The Beatles, as a group.
(The final date that all four of The Beatles were in the studio together is August 20, 1969).

1975 - Elton John US #1 with 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds'


The song would be #1 for two weeks on the US singles chart. His third US No.1, the song featured John Lennon on guitar.

2008 (Feb 20) - Beatles' Autographed Rolling Stones Album Auctioned

A 1976 Rolling Stones album bought for £2 at a car boot sale sold for £4,000 at an auction. The ‘Black and Blue’ LP was signed by John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Paul and Linda McCartney and George Harrison as well as members of the Rolling Stones. The seller obtained the album after haggling the cost down from £3.

1961 - The Beatles Perform At Litherland Town Hall; Ringo Attends


The Beatles played at Litherland Town Hall, Liverpool. In the audience are two members from Rory Storm & the Hurricanes: Johnny Guitar and Ringo Starr who have just returned from Hamburg, Germany.

1962 - 'My Bonnie' by Tony Sheridan Released


The single is released on Polydor. It’s billed as ‘Tony Sheridan and the Beatles’ or ‘Tony Sheridan and the Beat Brothers’.
