2014 (Feb 14) - Ed Sullivan 'Fifty Years Later Special' Airs

CBS News Correspondent Anthony Mason moderated “50 Years: The Beatles.” The eclectic panel discusses the band’s appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show at the very same theater where that historic performance took place, a panel gathered Sunday night to talk about the Beatles.

1962 (Jun 6) - First Beatles Recordings at What Will Become 'Abbey Road'

The first Beatles recording session took place at EMI studios. The group recorded four tracks, one of which was ‘Love Me Do’ the four musicians received payments for the session of £7.10 ($12.07) each.

1964 (Feb 15) - 'Ed Sullivan Show' Dress Rehearal

The Beatles second appearance on the ‘Ed Sullivan Show’ is one day away. The boys go through a full dress rehearsal at their Miami hotel.

1964 (Feb 15) - 'Meet The Beatles' Becomes Band's First US #1

The Beatles scored their first US No.1 album with Meet The Beatles! The album stayed at No.1 for eleven weeks. The album sold over four million copies in the US by December 31, 1964.

1965 (Feb 15) - 'Eight Days A Week' and 'I Don't Want To Spoil The Party' Released

‘Eight Days A Week’ and ‘I Don’t Want To Spoil The Party’ are released.

1965 (Feb 15) - John Passes His Driving Test

John Lennon becomes a licensed driver.

1966 (Feb 18) - Brian Wilson Finishes 'Good Vibrations'

Beach Boy Brian Wilson finished recording the future classic song ‘Good Vibrations’, which went on to become the band’s third US number-one hit. As a child, his mother told him that dogs could pick up “vibrations” from people, so that the dog would bark at “bad vibrations” Wilson turned this into the general idea for the song.

1968 (Feb 15) - Part of the Band Heads to India

John and Cynthia Lennon, along with George and Patti Harrison and Cynthia’s sister Jenny, flew to India to study meditation with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Paul and Ringo joined them a few days later, but Starr would become bored and leave on March 1st, comparing the experience to be like a ‘Butlins holiday camp.’ Much of the Beatles’ The White Album was written during their stay.

1968 (Jan 20) - 'Judy In Disguise' is #1. Inspired by 'Lucy In The Sky'?

One Hit Wonders John Fred and the Playboy Band started a two week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with ‘Judy In Disguise, (With Glasses)’. It topped at No.3 in the UK. The song was allegedly inspired by The Beatles ‘Lucy In The Sky’.

1974 (Feb 15) - 'Jet/Let Me Roll It' Released

>’Jet’ and B side ‘Let Me Roll It’ are releaed from Wings album ‘Band On The Run’.
