1964 (Oct 1) – The Beatles vs The Four Seasons Released

October 1, 1964

Vee Jay Records had lost the rights to issue any new Beatles material, but they could repackage as much old as they liked.
In order to milk as much profit as possible from the Beatles, the label issued this double record. Sales were much slower than anticipated and less than 20,000 copies were distributed. As a side, the label lost The Four Seasons as well about the time of the release.
