2008 (Feb 20) - Beatles' Autographed Rolling Stones Album Auctioned

A 1976 Rolling Stones album bought for £2 at a car boot sale sold for £4,000 at an auction. The ‘Black and Blue’ LP was signed by John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Paul and Linda McCartney and George Harrison as well as members of the Rolling Stones. The seller obtained the album after haggling the cost down from £3.

1965 (Apr 22) - Beatles #1 in the UK with 'Ticket To Ride'

The Beatles were at No.1 on the UK singles chart with ‘Ticket To Ride.’ Taken from the film Help! it was the group’s seventh UK No.1.

1969 (Apr 22) - From 'Winston' to 'Ono'

John legally changes his middle name from Winston to Ono.

1936 (Apr 23) - Beatle Influencer Roy Orbison Born

1960 (Apr 23) - 'The Nerk Twins' Perform

Paul and John perform as ‘The Nerk Twins’ at the Fox and Hounds pub in Reading, England. The pub is owned by McCartney’s cousin and her husband. They also perform the next day.  These are the only known instances where the pair performed as a duo.

1962 (Apr 23) - 'My Bonnie' Released in the US

‘My Bonnie’ is released in the US. The band is listed as Tony Sheridan and the Beat Brothers.

1963 (Apr 23) - The Beatles and The Rolling Stones Meet

The Beatles and The Rolling Stones met for the first time during a Stones performance at the Crawdaddy Club. The music venue in Richmond, Surrey, also saw performances by Led Zeppelin, Long John Baldry, Elton John and and Rod Stewart.

1964 (Apr 23) - More 'A Hard Day's Night' Filming

The Beatles shoot the ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ scene for A Hard Day’s Night. It is filmed on a south London athletic field augmented with a helipad.  John was away promoting his book and his stand in was Richard Lester with a wig.

1969 (Apr 23) - The Beatles #1 in the UK with 'Get Back'

The Beatles were at No.1 on the UK singles chart with ‘Get Back’ the group’s 16th UK No.1. Credited to “The Beatles with Billy Preston”, it was the Beatles’ only single that credited another artist, ‘Get Back’ was also the Beatles’ first single release in true stereo in the US.
