2008 (Feb 20) - Beatles' Autographed Rolling Stones Album Auctioned

A 1976 Rolling Stones album bought for £2 at a car boot sale sold for £4,000 at an auction. The ‘Black and Blue’ LP was signed by John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Paul and Linda McCartney and George Harrison as well as members of the Rolling Stones. The seller obtained the album after haggling the cost down from £3.

1940 (May 21) - Beatles Collaborator Tony Sheridan Born

English rock and roll singer-songwriter and guitarist Tony Sheridan. He was best known as an early collaborator of The Beatles and the only non-Beatle to appear as lead singer on a Beatles recording (‘My Bonnie’) which charted as a single. Sheridan died on 16 February 2013.

1963 (May 21) - Beatles Record Two BBC Radio Programs

The Beatles recorded two BBC radio programs at the Playhouse Theatre in London. They recorded five songs for Saturday Club and six songs for Steppin’ Out.

1971 (May 21) - Paul Releases 'Monkberry Moon Delight' in the UK

Monkberry Moon Delight’ released in the UK.

1965 (May 22) - 'Ticket to Ride' #1 in the US

The Beatles went to No.1 on the US singles chart with ‘Ticket To Ride’, the group’s eighth US No.1. The American single’s label declared that the song was from the United Artists release Eight Arms to Hold You. This was the original title of the Beatles’ second movie; the title changed to Help! after the single was initially released.

1976 (May 22) - 'Silly Love Songs' #1 in the US

Wings started a five week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with ‘Silly Love Songs’, McCartney’s fifth US No.1 since leaving The Beatles. Paul McCartney had often been teased by music critics as well as former Beatle and friend, John Lennon, for writing lightweight songs and he wrote this number in response.

1964 (May 23) - Ella Fitzgerald's 'Can't Buy Me Love' Cover #1

<center> Ella Fitzgerald is #1 in the UK covering ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’. This makes her the first outside artist to have a number one with a Beatles song.

1970 (May 23) - 'McCartney' #1 in the US

Paul McCartney’s debut solo album, McCartney, started a three-week run at No.1 on the US album chart. Apart from Linda McCartney’s vocal contributions, McCartney performed and recorded the entire album solo. The album featured ‘Maybe I’m Amazed’
