‘Let It Be/You Know My Name (Look Up My Number) released in the US and UK.

1975 (Mar 6) - EMI Re-releases 13 Beatles Singles

EMI Records reissues 23 singles by The Beatles. Each one of them charts for a second time.

2008 (Feb 20) - Beatles' Autographed Rolling Stones Album Auctioned

A 1976 Rolling Stones album bought for £2 at a car boot sale sold for £4,000 at an auction. The ‘Black and Blue’ LP was signed by John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Paul and Linda McCartney and George Harrison as well as members of the Rolling Stones. The seller obtained the album after haggling the cost down from £3.

1962 (Mar 7) - Beatles Record First Radio Appearance

The Beatles recorded their first radio appearance, at the Playhouse Theatre, Hulme, Manchester, for the BBC radio program Teenager’s Turn – Here We Go’. After a rehearsal, the Beatles put on suits for the first time and, along with the other artists appearing on the program, record the show in front of a teenage audience.

1967 (Mar 7) - Beatles Record Overdubs for 'Lovely Rita'

Working on their next album The Beatles recorded additional overdubs for ‘Lovely Rita’, including harmony vocals, effects, and the percussive sound of a piece of toilet paper being blown through a haircomb.

1987 (Mar 7) - Beatles on Compact Disc in America

The first Beatles albums are released on compact disc, including ‘Please Please Me’, ‘With The Beatles’, ‘A Hard Day’s Night’, ‘Beatles For Sale’ and ‘Help!’. This is the first time US customers can get the official UK Beatles albums. Previous albums in America were the original mono mixes.

1962 (Mar 8) - Beatles Make Radio Debut


The Beatles made their radio debut on the BBC’s ‘Teenagers Turn’, (Here We Go), singing Roy Orbison’s ‘Dream Baby’. It was reportedly the first time The Beatles wore suits onstage.

1963 (Mar 8) - First US Charting by a Beatles Song

‘Please Please Me’ shows up at #40 on the WLS’ Silver Dollar Survey. This marks the first time a Beatles song makes a radio sttion survey in America. It is also likely that WLS was the first station in America to play a Beatles song on the air.

1973 (Mar 8) - Paul Fined for Growing Cannabis

Paul McCartney was fined £100 ($170) for growing cannabis at his farm in Campbeltown, Scotland. McCartney claimed some fans gave the seeds to him and that he didn’t know what they would grow.
