2008 (Feb 20) - Beatles' Autographed Rolling Stones Album Auctioned

A 1976 Rolling Stones album bought for £2 at a car boot sale sold for £4,000 at an auction. The ‘Black and Blue’ LP was signed by John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Paul and Linda McCartney and George Harrison as well as members of the Rolling Stones. The seller obtained the album after haggling the cost down from £3.

1935 (Jan 8) - Beatle Influencer Elvis Presley Born


Elvis Aaron Presley, the King of rock ‘n’ roll. He had his first No.1 in 1956 with the US No.1 & UK No.2 single ‘Heartbreak Hotel’. His first UK No.1 single was in 1957, with ‘All Shook Up’. Presley went on to have over 100 US & UK Top 40 singles from 1956 – 2006. Presley is one of the most celebrated and influential musicians of the 20th century, with estimated record sales of around 600 million units worldwide.   Elvis Presley died on August 16th 1977.
Elvis met the Beatles in August of 1965.   No actual (non Photoshop) photos exist of their meeting.

1962 (Jun 6) - First Beatles Recordings at What Will Become 'Abbey Road'

The first Beatles recording session took place at EMI studios. The group recorded four tracks, one of which was ‘Love Me Do’ the four musicians received payments for the session of £7.10 ($12.07) each.

1966 (Feb 18) - Brian Wilson Finishes 'Good Vibrations'

Beach Boy Brian Wilson finished recording the future classic song ‘Good Vibrations’, which went on to become the band’s third US number-one hit. As a child, his mother told him that dogs could pick up “vibrations” from people, so that the dog would bark at “bad vibrations” Wilson turned this into the general idea for the song.

1966 (Jan 8) - Beatles are #1 with 'Rubber Soul', 'We Can Work It Out'


The Beatles started a six week run at No.1 on the US album chart with Rubber Soul the group’s seventh US chart topper, which went on to spend 56 weeks on the chart. The group also started a three week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with ‘We Can Work It Out’ the group’s 11th US No.1 single.

1967 (Jan 8) - John, Paul and Ringo Attend Georgie Fame's Fancy Dress Party

Fellow entertainer Fame was throwing the party for his girlfriend’s 21st birthday.

2004 (Jan 8) - George Harrison's Estate Files Suit Against Doctor


The estate of George Harrison started a $10 million legal action against Dr Gilbert Lederman of Staten Island University Hospital, claiming the doctor coerced Harrison to sign souvenirs. The main allegations of the legal action was that Dr Lederman got an extremely sick Harrison to sign his son’s guitar and autographs for his two daughters.
