1969 (Jul 7) - 'Here Comes The Sun' Recorded

George Harrison recorded his new song ‘Here Comes the Sun’ with just two other Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr at Abbey Road in London. John Lennon was absent recovering from a car crash in Scotland.

1989 (Jul 7) - Compact Discs Surpass Vinyl Sales

It was announced that for the first time compact discs were out selling vinyl albums.

2010 (Jul 7) - Paul Joins Ringo at Birthday Celebration

Paul McCartney joined Ringo Starr onstage at a concert at New York’s Radio City Music Hall to help celebrate the former Beatle drummer’s 70th birthday. With Ringo’s All Starr Band joined by Yoko Ono, Joe Walsh, Angus Young and Steven Van Zandt, Paul belted out “Birthday” and Ringo delivered “With A Little Help From My Friends”.

1962 (Jun 6) - First Beatles Recordings at What Will Become 'Abbey Road'

The first Beatles recording session took place at EMI studios. The group recorded four tracks, one of which was ‘Love Me Do’ the four musicians received payments for the session of £7.10 ($12.07) each.

1966 (Jul 8) - Beatles Release 'Nowhere Man'

The Beatles released the ‘Nowhere Man’ 4-track EP in the UK, which included: ‘Drive My Car’, ‘Michelle’ and ‘You Won’t See Me’. All four tracks were taken from The Beatles sixth UK studio album, Rubber Soul.

1969 (Jul 9) - Beatles Record 'Maxwell's Silver Hammer'

Working at Abbey Road studios in London The Beatles recorded ‘Maxwell’s Silver Hammer.’ John Lennon returned to the studio after recovering from a car crash in Scotland, and a bed was installed in the Abbey Road studio for Yoko, who was pregnant, and who had been more seriously injured in the car accident.

1972 (Jul 9) - Wings Plays First Gig

Paul McCartney and Wings played their very first show in the small French town of Chateauvillon. The band included Denny Laine, Denny Seiwell, Henry McCullough and Paul’s wife, Linda. It was McCartney’s first time on the road since The Beatles quit touring in 1966. The band travelled on a double Decker London bus with a psychedelic interior.

1964 (Jul 10) - 200,000 Celebrate Beatles Return to Liverpool

200,000 Liverpudlians took to the streets to celebrate The Beatles return to Liverpool for the northern premiere of the group’s first film ‘A Hard Day’s Night.’ The group were honored in a public ceremony in front of Liverpool Town Hall and as The Beatles stood on a balcony looking at the large crowd gathered below, John Lennon gave a few Nazi “Sieg Heil” salutes. Not everyone appreciated his sense of humor.
