1966 (Feb 18) - Brian Wilson Finishes 'Good Vibrations'

Beach Boy Brian Wilson finished recording the future classic song ‘Good Vibrations’, which went on to become the band’s third US number-one hit. As a child, his mother told him that dogs could pick up “vibrations” from people, so that the dog would bark at “bad vibrations” Wilson turned this into the general idea for the song.

1969 (Jan 18) - Are The Beatles Going Broke?


John tells a journalist that the Beatles could be broke in six months.

2008 (Feb 20) - Beatles' Autographed Rolling Stones Album Auctioned

A 1976 Rolling Stones album bought for £2 at a car boot sale sold for £4,000 at an auction. The ‘Black and Blue’ LP was signed by John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Paul and Linda McCartney and George Harrison as well as members of the Rolling Stones. The seller obtained the album after haggling the cost down from £3.

2011 (Jan 18) - Largest Collection of Beatles Memorabilia on Display in Buenos Aires


The largest collection of Beatles memorabilia went on display in a new museum in Buenos Aires, Argentina.  Rodolfo Vazquez, a 53-year-old accountant, turned his mammoth Beatles collection into a museum with more than 8,500 objects – setting the new world record for the largest collection of Beatles memorabilia.  Some of the items included a box of condoms bearing the names of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, a brick from the Cavern Club, a chunk of the stage from the Star Club in Hamburg, and certified copies of the band members’ birth certificates.  Among his favorite items were 64 boxes of chewing gum in the form of Beatles records.

1939 (Jan 19) - Beatle Influencer Phil Everly Born


Phil Everly is born.  A singer and songwriter, and member of The Everly Brothers.  Everly died on January 3, 2014 at the age of 74 of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

1962 (Jun 6) - First Beatles Recordings at What Will Become 'Abbey Road'

The first Beatles recording session took place at EMI studios. The group recorded four tracks, one of which was ‘Love Me Do’ the four musicians received payments for the session of £7.10 ($12.07) each.

1963 (Jan 19) - 'Please Please Me' On The Charts


Please Please Me enters the charts in the UK.

1963 (Jan 19) - Beatles on 'Thank Your Lucky Stars'


The Beatles made their first national TV appearance in the UK on ‘Thank Your Lucky Stars’ performing ‘Please Please Me’.
