1967 (Apr 25) - 'Magical Mystery Tour' Recorded at Abbey Road

Just days after the completion of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, The Beatles embarked upon their next project, recording the theme to ‘Magical Mystery Tour’ at Abbey Road studios in London.

1981 (Apr 25) - Denny Laine leaves Wings

Denny Laines leaves Wings, leaving just Paul and Linda McCartney as members.

1982 (Apr 25) - 'Ebony and Ivory' #1 in the UK

Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder were at No.1 on the UK singles chart with ‘Ebony And Ivory.’ This was McCartney’s 24th No.1 hit single as a songwriter. The title was inspired by McCartney hearing Spike Milligan say “black notes, white notes, and you need to play the two to make harmony folks!”. It was later named as the tenth worst song of all time by Blender magazine and in 2007 was named the worst duet in history by BBC 6 Music listeners.

2008 (Feb 20) - Beatles' Autographed Rolling Stones Album Auctioned

A 1976 Rolling Stones album bought for £2 at a car boot sale sold for £4,000 at an auction. The ‘Black and Blue’ LP was signed by John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Paul and Linda McCartney and George Harrison as well as members of the Rolling Stones. The seller obtained the album after haggling the cost down from £3.

1962 (Jun 6) - First Beatles Recordings at What Will Become 'Abbey Road'

The first Beatles recording session took place at EMI studios. The group recorded four tracks, one of which was ‘Love Me Do’ the four musicians received payments for the session of £7.10 ($12.07) each.

1964 (Apr 26) - Beatles Attend Roy Orbison's Birthday Party

The Beatles attend Roy Orbison’s belated 28th birthday party in London.

1964 (Apr 26) - Beatles Head NME Poll Winners Concert

The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and the Dave Clark Five headlined the NME poll winner’s concert at Wembley Empire Pool, London.

1966 (Feb 18) - Brian Wilson Finishes 'Good Vibrations'

Beach Boy Brian Wilson finished recording the future classic song ‘Good Vibrations’, which went on to become the band’s third US number-one hit. As a child, his mother told him that dogs could pick up “vibrations” from people, so that the dog would bark at “bad vibrations” Wilson turned this into the general idea for the song.

1969 (Apr 26) - 'Get Back' to #1

‘Get Back’ goes to #1 on the UK singles charts. It will remain there for six weeks.

1975 (Apr 26) - John's 'Stand By Me' #20 in US

John Lennon’s cover of ‘Stand By Me’ reaches #20 in the US.
