2008 (Feb 20) - Beatles' Autographed Rolling Stones Album Auctioned

A 1976 Rolling Stones album bought for £2 at a car boot sale sold for £4,000 at an auction. The ‘Black and Blue’ LP was signed by John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Paul and Linda McCartney and George Harrison as well as members of the Rolling Stones. The seller obtained the album after haggling the cost down from £3.

1962 (Jun 6) - First Beatles Recordings at What Will Become 'Abbey Road'

The first Beatles recording session took place at EMI studios. The group recorded four tracks, one of which was ‘Love Me Do’ the four musicians received payments for the session of £7.10 ($12.07) each.

1963 (Feb 22) - Northern Songs Established

The Beatles form Northern Music Publishing along with Brian Epstein and British music publisher Dick James. The publishing house will later be owned by Michael Jackson.

1966 (Feb 18) - Brian Wilson Finishes 'Good Vibrations'

Beach Boy Brian Wilson finished recording the future classic song ‘Good Vibrations’, which went on to become the band’s third US number-one hit. As a child, his mother told him that dogs could pick up “vibrations” from people, so that the dog would bark at “bad vibrations” Wilson turned this into the general idea for the song.

1967 (Feb 22) - 'A Day in the Life' Piano Chord Recorded

Pink Floyd continued working on their debut album The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn at Abbey Road Studios, London. The Beatles were also working at Abbey Road, recording the giant piano chord for the end of ‘A Day In The Life’ for their Sgt. Pepper’d album.

1970 (Feb 22) - Paul Records "Every Night"

Paul records ‘Every Night’ on this date. The lyrics reflect the situation he was dealing with as The Beatles were close to breakup. Recorded at Abbey Road Studios.

2001 (Feb 22) - Beatles Top Grossing Recording Group of 2000

The Brit newspaper Sunday Mirror reports that the Beatles, now broken up for 31 years, are nevertheless the top grossing recording group of the year 2000.

2003 (Feb 22) - Paul Plays Private Gig

Sir Paul McCartney played a private show in San Diego for the 50th birthday of Wendy Whitworth, the executive producer of CNN’s Larry King Show. Sir Paul donated his $1 million (£0.6 million) fee to the Adopt-a-Minefield charity.
