Band works on ‘Old Brown Shoe’ in the studio. Recording will take several days.

1971 (Apr 16) - Ringo Releases 'It Don't Come Easy' in US

Ringo Starr releases his second solo single in the US, “It Don’t Come Easy.”

1973 (Apr 16) - 'James Paul McCartney' TV Special Airs

Paul McCartney’s first television special, James Paul McCartney, was aired in America on the ABC network. The show, which includes performances by McCartney and Wings, would be broadcast in the UK on May 10th.

1993 (Apr 16) - Paul Headlines 'Earth Day' Concert

Paul McCartney headlined a concert at the Hollywood Bowl to celebrate ‘Earth Day’ along with Ringo Starr, Don Henley and Steve Miller. McCartney had last performed there as a member of The Beatles in 1965.

1962 (Jun 6) - First Beatles Recordings at What Will Become 'Abbey Road'

The first Beatles recording session took place at EMI studios. The group recorded four tracks, one of which was ‘Love Me Do’ the four musicians received payments for the session of £7.10 ($12.07) each.

1970 (Apr 17) - 'McCartney' Released in the UK

Paul McCartney releases his first solo album, McCartney, in the UK.

1970 (Apr 17) - Paul Releases 'Every Night' as Single

Paul releases ‘Every Night’ as a single on the first day of his solo album ‘McCartney’ release.

1971 (Apr 17) - All Four Beatles Chart

All four Beatles had solo singles in the UK charts, Paul McCartney with ‘Another Day’, John Lennon ‘Power To The People’, George Harrison ‘My Sweet Lord’ and Ringo Starr ‘It Don’t Come Easy.’

1998 (Apr 17) - Linda McCartney Dies

Linda McCartney died after a long battle against cancer. Married Paul McCartney in 1969 when she was working as a photographer. As well as a being a member of Wings, she became an animal rights campaigner and launched her own brand of vegetarian food.
