1966 (Mar 25) - 'Yesterday and Today' Butcher Cover Photoshoot

At a photo session at Bob Whitaker’s studio in London, The Beatles posed in white coats using sides of meat with mutilated and butchered dolls for the cover of their next American album, Yesterday and Today. After advance copies were sent to disc jockeys and record reviewers, negative reaction to the cover photo was so strong Capitol recalled 750,000 copies from distributors to replace the cover. The total cost to Capitol to replace the cover and promotional materials was $250,000, wiping out their initial profit.

1969 (Mar 25) - John and Yoko Begin 'Bed In'

John Lennon and Yoko Ono started their week long ‘bed-in’ in the presidential suite at The Amsterdam Hilton hotel. The couple invited the world’s press into their hotel room every day, to talk about promoting world peace.

1970 (Mar 25) - Phil Spector Begins 'Let It Be' Work

Phil Spector begins the remix of some of the ‘Let It Be’ tracks. This will take into April to finish and will generate much criticism from the band for his ‘Wall of Sound’ approach to their music.

2008 (Feb 20) - Beatles' Autographed Rolling Stones Album Auctioned

A 1976 Rolling Stones album bought for £2 at a car boot sale sold for £4,000 at an auction. The ‘Black and Blue’ LP was signed by John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Paul and Linda McCartney and George Harrison as well as members of the Rolling Stones. The seller obtained the album after haggling the cost down from £3.

The British invasion continued to make its way around the world with The Beatles having the top six positions on the Australian pop chart.

1964 (Mar 26) - Pete Best on "I've Got A Secret'

Former Beatles drummer Pete Best appears on the game show I’ve Got a Secret.

1966 (Feb 18) - Brian Wilson Finishes 'Good Vibrations'

Beach Boy Brian Wilson finished recording the future classic song ‘Good Vibrations’, which went on to become the band’s third US number-one hit. As a child, his mother told him that dogs could pick up “vibrations” from people, so that the dog would bark at “bad vibrations” Wilson turned this into the general idea for the song.

1968 (Mar 26) - Paul and Jane Return From Rishikesh

Paul and Jane return from Rishikesh. They head to Paul’s farm in Scotland.

1987 (Mar 26) - Nike Uses 'Revolution' In Ad Campaign

Nike begins airing a commercia using the Beatles song ‘Revolution’. It is the first time an ORIGINAL version of a Beatles song is used in an ad.
