1969 (Mar 15) - Passport Problems Stall John & Yoko's Wedding

John Lennon and Yoko Ono get caught “standing in the dock at Southampton, trying to get to Holland or France”, as passport problems stall their wedding. The activities of the day are later chronicled in the lyrics of “The Ballad of John and Yoko”.

1970 (Mar 15) - Ringo Shoots 'Sentimental Journey' Promo

Ringo shoots a promo video at London’s ‘Talk of the Town’ nightclub for his ‘Sentimental Journey’ album.

1999 (Mar 15) - Paul McCartney Into Rock Hall

Paul McCartney is inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Other inductees include Curtis Mayfield, Del Shannon, Dusty Springfield, The Stape Singers, Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen.

2004 (Mar 15) - George Harrison Into Rock Hall

George Harrison is inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Other inductees include Bob Seger, The Dells, ZZ Top, Jackson Browne, Prince and Traffic.

2005 (Mar 15) - John Lennon Statue Unveiled at Liverpool Airport

Yoko Ono unveiled a seven foot bronze statue of John Lennon overlooking the check-in hall of Liverpool John Lennon airport. The re-branding of the airport featured a sketch of Lennon’s face with the words ‘Above Us Only Skies.’

2008 (Feb 20) - Beatles' Autographed Rolling Stones Album Auctioned

A 1976 Rolling Stones album bought for £2 at a car boot sale sold for £4,000 at an auction. The ‘Black and Blue’ LP was signed by John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Paul and Linda McCartney and George Harrison as well as members of the Rolling Stones. The seller obtained the album after haggling the cost down from £3.

1962 (Jun 6) - First Beatles Recordings at What Will Become 'Abbey Road'

The first Beatles recording session took place at EMI studios. The group recorded four tracks, one of which was ‘Love Me Do’ the four musicians received payments for the session of £7.10 ($12.07) each.

1963 (Mar 16) - Live Appearance on BBC's 'Saturday Club'

After their appearance, they drive to Sheffield for their appearance on the Montez-Roe package tour.

1964 (Mar 16) - Beatles Set Record For Advance Sales

The Beatles set a new record for advance sales in the US with 2,100,000 copies of their latest single ‘Can’t Buy Me Love.’ When pressed by American journalists in 1966 to reveal the song’s ‘true’ meaning, Paul McCartney stated ‘I think you can put any interpretation you want on anything, but when someone suggests that ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ is about a prostitute, I draw the line’.

1966 (Feb 18) - Brian Wilson Finishes 'Good Vibrations'

Beach Boy Brian Wilson finished recording the future classic song ‘Good Vibrations’, which went on to become the band’s third US number-one hit. As a child, his mother told him that dogs could pick up “vibrations” from people, so that the dog would bark at “bad vibrations” Wilson turned this into the general idea for the song.
