1964 (Jun 26) - Beatles Continue New Zealand Tour

During a world tour, The Beatles played two shows at Town Hall, Dunedin, South Island, New Zealand. The flight from Auckland to Dunedin was tense due the receipt of an anonymous threat that a “germ bomb” had been placed on board the aircraft.

1962 (Jun 6) - First Beatles Recordings at What Will Become 'Abbey Road'

The first Beatles recording session took place at EMI studios. The group recorded four tracks, one of which was ‘Love Me Do’ the four musicians received payments for the session of £7.10 ($12.07) each.

1964 (Jun 27) - 'A World Without Love' #1 in the US

Peter and Gordon went to No.1 on the US singles chart with the John Lennon and Paul McCartney song ‘A World Without Love’, also a No.1 in the UK. Peter Asher went on to become James Taylor and Linda Ronstadt’s manager.

1966 (Jun 27) - Beatles Leave for Tokyo

The Beatles leave London for Tokyo. Their JAL flight is routed to Anchorage because of a typhoon.

1976 (Jun 27) - John Lennon Gets His 'Green Card'

John Lennon receives his “green card” from the US Department of Naturalization.

2009 (Jun 27) - Paul Joins Neil Young on Stage

Neil Young performs in London’s Hyde Park. He is joined on stage by Paul McCartney for a duet of “A Day In The Life.”

2012 (Jun 27) - Beatles Blamed For Russian Drug Problem

The chief medical officer of Russia said that The Beatles were to blame for the country’s drug problem. Yevgeny Bryun, the nation’s medical chief, said that the country’s youth first got introduced to the idea of drug-taking when The Beatles traveled to India to “expand their minds”. Bryun added that it was after this news entered public consciousness that people in Russia realized you could make money from the sale of drugs. When business then realized it was possible to make money from this, goods associated with pleasure, that was when the growth in the demand for drugs started.”

Working at Abbey Road studios The Beatles recorded ‘Good Night’, John Lennon’s lullaby for his 5-year-old son Julian with Ringo singing the lead vocal. The track appeared on The White Album.

1974 (Jun 28) - 'Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five' Released

Paul McCartney & Wings release ‘Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five’
