2001 (Mar 14) - Sgt. Pepper Cover Designer Sues For More Money

Peter Blake, who designed The Beatles classic Sgt. Pepper album cover sued the group’s record company for more money. Blake was paid £200 ($340) for the famous figures in 1967, but was now ‘cheesed off’ that EMI had never offered to pay more money.

2006 (Mar 14) -- Paul McCartney Ranks 4th in Top Music Money Earners

U2 topped Rolling Stone magazine’s annual list of the year’s biggest money earners from 2005 with $154.2m. (£78m), The Rolling Stones were listed second with $92.5m (£47m) and the Eagles third with 63.2m. (£32.m). Paul McCartney was in fourth place with $56m (£28m) and Elton John in fifth with $48.9m. (£24.8m).

2008 (Feb 20) - Beatles' Autographed Rolling Stones Album Auctioned

A 1976 Rolling Stones album bought for £2 at a car boot sale sold for £4,000 at an auction. The ‘Black and Blue’ LP was signed by John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Paul and Linda McCartney and George Harrison as well as members of the Rolling Stones. The seller obtained the album after haggling the cost down from £3.

1962 (Jun 6) - First Beatles Recordings at What Will Become 'Abbey Road'

The first Beatles recording session took place at EMI studios. The group recorded four tracks, one of which was ‘Love Me Do’ the four musicians received payments for the session of £7.10 ($12.07) each.

1966 (Feb 18) - Brian Wilson Finishes 'Good Vibrations'

Beach Boy Brian Wilson finished recording the future classic song ‘Good Vibrations’, which went on to become the band’s third US number-one hit. As a child, his mother told him that dogs could pick up “vibrations” from people, so that the dog would bark at “bad vibrations” Wilson turned this into the general idea for the song.

1967 (Mar 15) - First Recording Session For 'Within You Without You'

The first session recording George Harrison’s new song ‘Within You Without You’ took place at Abbey Road studios, London. George was the only Beatle to perform on this song, which was still called ‘Untitled’.

1968 (Mar 15) - 'Lady Madonna/The Inner Light' Releasedin UK

‘Lady Madonna/The Inner Light’ released in the UK.

1969 (Mar 15) - Passport Problems Stall John & Yoko's Wedding

John Lennon and Yoko Ono get caught “standing in the dock at Southampton, trying to get to Holland or France”, as passport problems stall their wedding. The activities of the day are later chronicled in the lyrics of “The Ballad of John and Yoko”.

1970 (Mar 15) - Ringo Shoots 'Sentimental Journey' Promo

Ringo shoots a promo video at London’s ‘Talk of the Town’ nightclub for his ‘Sentimental Journey’ album.
