1980 - 'Double Fantasy' #1 in the US

The John and Yoko collaboration would be #1 for eight weeks.  Also on this date, ‘Just Like Starting Over’ began a five week run as #1 on the singles charts.

2008 (Feb 20) - Beatles' Autographed Rolling Stones Album Auctioned

A 1976 Rolling Stones album bought for £2 at a car boot sale sold for £4,000 at an auction. The ‘Black and Blue’ LP was signed by John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Paul and Linda McCartney and George Harrison as well as members of the Rolling Stones. The seller obtained the album after haggling the cost down from £3.

1962 (Jun 6) - First Beatles Recordings at What Will Become 'Abbey Road'

The first Beatles recording session took place at EMI studios. The group recorded four tracks, one of which was ‘Love Me Do’ the four musicians received payments for the session of £7.10 ($12.07) each.

2008 - Delaney Bramlett Dies

Died from complications due to gall bladder surgery. A member of ‘Delaney, Bonnie & Friends’, and had worked with John Lennon, George Harrison and Eric Clapton.

1964 - Beatle Haircuts announced as 'Job Prohibitors'

The Liverpool Youth Employment Service says that some young men were having trouble finding jobs. Employers said their ‘Beatle style’ haircuts weren’t acceptable.

1966 - Paul Works on 'Penny Lane'

At Abbey Road, Paul records six takes of keyboard tracks and various percussion effects.
Penny Lane is a street near John Lennon’s home in Liverpool.

1947 - Jeff Lynne Born


Member of the Traveling Wilburys with George Harrison, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison and others.  English songwriter, singer, record producer Jeff Lynne was a member of Idle Race, then The Move who had the 1969 UK No.1 single ‘Blackberry Way’.   He co-founded ELO who had the 1979 hit ‘Don’t Bring Me Down’ and many others.   As a producer Lynne has worked with George Harrison, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson, Joe Walsh and others.
