‘Fame’ gave David Bowie his first No.1 in the US. The song was co-written with John Lennon. Lennon’s voice is heard towards the ending of the song repeating the words: “Fame, Fame, Fame” from a fast track, through a regular track, to a slow track, before Bowie finished the lyrics.

The Beatles played a lunchtime show at The Cavern Club in Liverpool. In the evening they appeared at Litherland Town Hall in Liverpool with Gerry & the Pacemakers, and Rory Storm & the Hurricanes, admission price was 3 shillings (15 pence).

The first Beatles recording session took place at EMI studios. The group recorded four tracks, one of which was ‘Love Me Do’ the four musicians received payments for the session of £7.10 ($12.07) each.
