1993 (Apr 16) - Paul Headlines 'Earth Day' Concert

Paul McCartney headlined a concert at the Hollywood Bowl to celebrate ‘Earth Day’ along with Ringo Starr, Don Henley and Steve Miller. McCartney had last performed there as a member of The Beatles in 1965.

2008 (Feb 20) - Beatles' Autographed Rolling Stones Album Auctioned

A 1976 Rolling Stones album bought for £2 at a car boot sale sold for £4,000 at an auction. The ‘Black and Blue’ LP was signed by John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Paul and Linda McCartney and George Harrison as well as members of the Rolling Stones. The seller obtained the album after haggling the cost down from £3.

1970 (Apr 17) - 'McCartney' Released in the UK

Paul McCartney releases his first solo album, McCartney, in the UK.

1970 (Apr 17) - Paul Releases 'Every Night' as Single

Paul releases ‘Every Night’ as a single on the first day of his solo album ‘McCartney’ release.

1971 (Apr 17) - All Four Beatles Chart

All four Beatles had solo singles in the UK charts, Paul McCartney with ‘Another Day’, John Lennon ‘Power To The People’, George Harrison ‘My Sweet Lord’ and Ringo Starr ‘It Don’t Come Easy.’

1998 (Apr 17) - Linda McCartney Dies

Linda McCartney died after a long battle against cancer. Married Paul McCartney in 1969 when she was working as a photographer. As well as a being a member of Wings, she became an animal rights campaigner and launched her own brand of vegetarian food.

1963 (Apr 18) - Beatles Perform at the 'Swinging Sounds of 63' Show

The Beatles appear at the Royal Albert Hall in the ‘Swinging Sounds of ’63’ show. Del Shannon heard them play ‘From Me To You’. He later recorded it and it became the first Lennon/McCartney song to chart in the United States.

1963 (Apr 18) - Paul Meets Jane Asher

After the ‘Swingin’ Sound ’63’ show, Paul meets Jane Asher. They become one of the most popular couples in England, become engage but later split up after Jane catches Paul cheating on her. She inspires several Beatles songs, including ‘All My Loving’ and ‘I’m Looking Through You’.

1964 (Apr 18) - Beatles Appear on 'The Morecambe and Wise Show'

The Beatles appeared on the UK TV comedy program The Morecambe and Wise Show, playing ‘This Boy’, ‘All My Loving’, and ‘I Want to Hold Your Hand’ and also participate in comedy sketches with Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise. The Beatles also held the UK and US No.1 position on this day with ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’.
