1969 - 'Two Virgins' Shipment Seized by New Jersey Authorities

The entire shipment of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s album ‘Two Virgins’ was seized by authorities in New Jersey due to the full frontal nude photograph on the cover. The album was eventually sold in plain brown paper in record stores. (Click title for uncensored version.)

1969 - Filming Begins on 'Let It Be' Album Rehearsals

Filming began at Twickenham studios in England of The Beatles rehearsing for the ‘Let It Be’ album. There were multiple problems including George Harrison walking out on the group eight days in.

1971 - George Harrison's 'All Things Must Pass' #1 in America

It would be number one on the US album charts for seven weeks, making Harrison the first solo Beatle to score a US No.1 album. The triple album included the hit singles ‘My Sweet Lord’ and ‘What Is Life’, as well as songs such as ‘Isn’t It a Pity’ and the title track that was turned down by The Beatles.

1985 - Ringo Attends Ronnie Wood's Marriage

Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood married his girlfriend Jo Woodin at Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire, England. Guests included Ringo Starr, Keith Richard, Bill Wyman, Charlie Watts, Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck. The couple divorced in 2009.

2007 - Cristin Keleher Found Dead (She Once Broke Into George's Maui Home)

Keleher was found dead after an apparent murder-suicide in California, aged 34. She made headlines in December 1999 by entering Harrison’s Maui estate and then cooking herself a frozen pizza. Police said her body had been found with that of a 48-year-old man in a car, both had gunshot wounds to their heads.

2008 (Feb 20) - Beatles' Autographed Rolling Stones Album Auctioned

A 1976 Rolling Stones album bought for £2 at a car boot sale sold for £4,000 at an auction. The ‘Black and Blue’ LP was signed by John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Paul and Linda McCartney and George Harrison as well as members of the Rolling Stones. The seller obtained the album after haggling the cost down from £3.

1926 - Sir George Martin Born

Sir George Martin, English record producer, arranger, composer, conductor, audio engineer and musician. He worked as EMI records in-house record producer and became the so-called fifth Beatle. Martin produced all but one of The Beatles albums giving him 30 No.1 hit singles in the UK and 23 No.1 hits in the US. He also worked with comedy acts The Goons and Beyond The Fringe. Martin received a Knighthood in 1996. He died on March 8 2016 aged 90.

1962 - Beatles First Cavern Show of the Year

This video was from later in 1962. It is believed to be the oldest video of the band performing.

1962 (Jun 6) - First Beatles Recordings at What Will Become 'Abbey Road'

The first Beatles recording session took place at EMI studios. The group recorded four tracks, one of which was ‘Love Me Do’ the four musicians received payments for the session of £7.10 ($12.07) each.

1964 - Beatles Are Seen on America's Jack Parr Show

Contrary to popular belief, the Ed Sullivan Show was not the first time the band was seen on American TV. It was the third, but the first performing live. The Beatles were seen for the second time on US TV when a clip from the BBC’s ‘The Mersey Sound’ showing the group playing ‘She Loves You’ was shown on The Jack Paar Show. The first US airing showing The Beatles was on Nov 18, 1963, on the NBC news program “The Huntley-Brinkley Report” (albeit pre-recorded) of The Beatles in concert.
