1962 (Jun 6) - First Beatles Recordings at What Will Become 'Abbey Road'

The first Beatles recording session took place at EMI studios. The group recorded four tracks, one of which was ‘Love Me Do’ the four musicians received payments for the session of £7.10 ($12.07) each.

1963 (Jun 18) - John Beats Up Cavern DJ at Paul's Birthday Party

Paul’s birthday at his aunt’s house is spoiled when John Lennon attacks the Cavern DJ Bob Wooler. Wooler had made a comment that John’s recent vacation to Spain with Brian Epstein was a ‘honeymoon’.

1964 (Jun 18) - Beatles Play Sydney Stadium

Touring Australia The Beatles played at Sydney Stadium in Sydney. This was Paul McCartney 22nd birthday and after the show his guests included 17 girls who were winners of the Daily Mirrors ‘Why I would like to be a guest at a Beatles birthday party’ competition.

1973 (Jun 18) - 'Live And Let Die' Released in the US

Wings releases ‘Live and Let Die’ in the US. It is the theme song to the James Bond movie starring Roger Moore.

2006 (Jun 18) - Paul McCartney is 64

Paul McCartney turns 64. He’s older, but doesn’t seem to be losing his hair. McCartney started writing “When I’m 64” when he was 15.

2010 (Jun 18) - Handwritten 'A Day In The Life' Lyrics Sold

John Lennon’s handwritten lyrics to The Beatles song ‘A Day In The Life’ sold for $1.2m (£810,000) at an auction at Sotheby’s in New York. The double-sided sheet of paper with notes written in felt marker and blue ink also contained some corrections and other notes penned in red ink.

1966 (Jun 19) - Beatles on 'Top of the Pops'

The Beatles made a surprise live appearance on the UK television program Top Of The Pops performing ‘Paperback Writer’ and ‘Rain’. It became The Beatles’ last live musical television appearance, with the sole exception of the June 1967 worldwide transmission of ‘All You Need Is Love’.

1975 (Jun 19) - John Sues the US Government

John Lennon sues US Attorneys General John Mitchell and Richard Kleindienst for alleged harassment during his recent deportation investigation.

2013 (Jun 19) - Beatle Influencer Slim Whitman Dies

Slim Whitman the American country music and western music singer/songwriter and instrumentalist died aged 90. Known for his yodeling abilities and his smooth high octave falsetto, he sold in excess of 120 million records during his career. Michael Jackson cited Whitman as one of his ten favorite vocalists and Beatle George Harrison cited Whitman as an early influence. Paul McCartney credited a poster of Whitman with giving him the idea of playing his guitar left-handed with his guitar strung the opposite way to a right-handed player’s.
