1966 (Feb 18) - Brian Wilson Finishes 'Good Vibrations'

Beach Boy Brian Wilson finished recording the future classic song ‘Good Vibrations’, which went on to become the band’s third US number-one hit. As a child, his mother told him that dogs could pick up “vibrations” from people, so that the dog would bark at “bad vibrations” Wilson turned this into the general idea for the song.

1967 (Aug 1) - George and Patti To Los Angeles

George and Pattie fly to Los Angeles. They lease a house on Blue Jay Way. George visits with Ravi Shankar where he gets Sitar lessons. George later visits San Francisco where he wanders around Haight-Ashbury.

1969 (Aug 1) - The Beatles Record 'Because'

The Beatles record “Because.”

1971 (Aug 1) - The Concert For Bangladesh

The Concert For Bangladesh organised by George Harrison to aid victims of famine and war in Bangladesh took place at New York’s Madison Sq Garden. Featuring Bob Dylan, Ringo Starr, Billy Preston, Eric Clapton, Ravi Shankar and members from Badfinger. Harrison had to shell out his own money to maintain the fund after legal problems froze all proceeds. The triple album release (the second in a row by Harrison), hit No.1 in the UK and No.2 in the US and received the Grammy Award for Album of the Year.

1978 (Aug 1) - Dhani Harrison Is Born

Dhani Harrison is born to George Harrison and his soon-to-be-wife Olivia. Dhani, who like his dad becomes a musician, is the couple’s only child.

1980 (Aug 1) - George Forms Movie Production Company

George Harrison forms a movie production company called Handmade Films, which produces the films Monty Python’s Life of Brian, The Long Good Friday, Time Bandits, and Shanghai Surprise.

2007 (Aug 1) - John's 'Granny Glasses' Sold At Auction

John Lennon’s “granny” sunglasses were snapped up by a British collector at auction. The sunglasses, from one of the last Beatles concerts, were expected to fetch around £1m, but auction bosses refused to say what the actual figure was. Lennon gave the gold-rimmed glasses to his Japanese interpreter in Tokyo in 1966, and the translator removed the lenses when Lennon died.

2008 (Feb 20) - Beatles' Autographed Rolling Stones Album Auctioned

A 1976 Rolling Stones album bought for £2 at a car boot sale sold for £4,000 at an auction. The ‘Black and Blue’ LP was signed by John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Paul and Linda McCartney and George Harrison as well as members of the Rolling Stones. The seller obtained the album after haggling the cost down from £3.

1962 (Jun 6) - First Beatles Recordings at What Will Become 'Abbey Road'

The first Beatles recording session took place at EMI studios. The group recorded four tracks, one of which was ‘Love Me Do’ the four musicians received payments for the session of £7.10 ($12.07) each.

1964 (Aug 2) - Beatles at Gaumont Cinema in Bournemouth

The Beatles appeared at the Gaumont Cinema in Bournemouth. One of the supporting acts, billed as a ‘new and unknown London group’, was The Kinks.
