The Beatles appearance on February 9th 1964 is considered a milestone in American pop culture and the beginning of the British Invasion in music. The broadcast drew an estimated 73 million viewers.
Linda McCartney releases Linda McCartney’s Sixties: Portrait of an Era, a collection of her most memorable works as a rock photographer. The book includes photos of The Rolling Stones, The Beatles (including husband Paul McCartney), The Who, the Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison (The Doors), Aretha Franklin, B.B. A 1976 Rolling Stones album bought for £2 at a car boot sale sold for £4,000 at an auction.
