2010 (Jul 25) - Heather Mills Talks About Marriage

Paul McCartney’s former wife, Heather Mills, told the press that the trauma and pain she went through after losing her leg in a traffic accident was nothing compared to the way she felt after she and the former Beatle split up. The two separated in 2006 after four years of marriage and went on to fight an bitter public divorce battle which saw her gain a $38.9 million settlement.

1962 (Jun 6) - First Beatles Recordings at What Will Become 'Abbey Road'

The first Beatles recording session took place at EMI studios. The group recorded four tracks, one of which was ‘Love Me Do’ the four musicians received payments for the session of £7.10 ($12.07) each.

1963 (Jul 26) - 'Introducing The Beatles' US Release

Vee-Jay releases ‘Introducing The Beatles’ in the US.

1964 (Jul 26) - At the Opera House, Blackpool

Concert at the Opera House in Blackpool.

2006 (Jul 26) - Paul's First Guitar Sells

The guitar on which Sir Paul McCartney learned his first chords sold for £330,000 at an auction at London’s Abbey Road Studios. The Rex acoustic guitar helped McCartney persuade John Lennon to let him join his band, The Quarrymen, in 1957.

2018 (Jul 26) - Paul at The Cavern Club

Paul McCartney plays a gig at The Cavern Club in Liverpool, where The Beatles did about 300 shows in the early ’60s. At one point, he chastises the crowd for using their phones.

1958 (Jul 27) - Esso Says 'Rock&Roll' Makes You Drive Fast

Fan’s of rock & roll music were warned that tuning into music on the car radio could cost you more money. Researchers from the Esso gas company said the rhythm of rock & roll could cause the driver to be foot heavy on the pedal, making them waste fuel.

1963 (Jul 27) - Beatles Do Photo Shoot, Concert at the Odeon Cinema

During a UK tour The Beatles played the last night of a six night run at The Odeon Cinema, Weston-super-Mare. The Beatles spent the day with photographer Dezo Hoffman, who took photos and 8mm movies of The Beatles at their hotel, on the beach dressed in Victorian bathing suits, and go-karting.

1974 (Jul 27) - 'Band On The Run' #1 Album in Britain

Wings started a seven-week run at No.1 on the UK album chart with Band On The Run. Although sales were modest initially, its commercial performance was aided by two hit singles ‘Jet’ and ‘Band on the Run’, such that it became the top-selling studio album of 1974 in the UK and Australia; in addition to revitalising McCartney’s critical standing. It remains McCartney’s most successful album and the most celebrated of his post-Beatles works.
