1965 (Jun 24) - John Lennon Publishes 'A Spaniard In The Works'

John Lennon’s second book of poetry and drawings, ‘A Spaniard In The Works’, was published. The book consisted of nonsensical stories and drawings similar to the style of his 1964 book ‘In His Own Write’.

1966 (Feb 18) - Brian Wilson Finishes 'Good Vibrations'

Beach Boy Brian Wilson finished recording the future classic song ‘Good Vibrations’, which went on to become the band’s third US number-one hit. As a child, his mother told him that dogs could pick up “vibrations” from people, so that the dog would bark at “bad vibrations” Wilson turned this into the general idea for the song.

1966 (Jun 24) - Beatles Final World Tour Begins

The final Beatles world tour begins in Munich. Moving forward, they concentrate on studio efforts, resulting in the landmark album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

1967 (Jun 24) - Rehearsal & Press Call for 'Our World Live' Show

The band rehearses for the ‘Our World Live’ show. They also host a press call at Abbey Road.

1989 (Jun 24) - Paul McCartney Releases 'Flowers In The Dirt' in the UK

Paul McCartney scored his seventh UK No.1 solo album with ‘Flowers In The Dirt’, featuring the single ‘My Brave Face’.

2008 (Feb 20) - Beatles' Autographed Rolling Stones Album Auctioned

A 1976 Rolling Stones album bought for £2 at a car boot sale sold for £4,000 at an auction. The ‘Black and Blue’ LP was signed by John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Paul and Linda McCartney and George Harrison as well as members of the Rolling Stones. The seller obtained the album after haggling the cost down from £3.

1962 (Jun 6) - First Beatles Recordings at What Will Become 'Abbey Road'

The first Beatles recording session took place at EMI studios. The group recorded four tracks, one of which was ‘Love Me Do’ the four musicians received payments for the session of £7.10 ($12.07) each.

1966 (Jun 25) - 'Paperback Writer' #1 in the US

The Beatles started a two week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with ‘Paperback Writer’, the group’s 12th US No.1. The track is marked by the boosted bass guitar sound throughout, partly in response to John Lennon demanding to know why the bass on a certain Wilson Pickett record far exceeded the bass on any Beatles records. It was also cut louder than any other Beatles record, due to a new piece of equipment used in the mastering process.

1967 (Jun 25) - 'All You Need Is Love' Broadcast Worldwide

200 million people saw The Beatles perform ‘All You Need Is Love’, live via satellite as part of the TV global link- up, ‘Our World’. Mick Jagger Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Graham Nash, Keith Moon and Gary Leeds provided backing vocals.
