1965 (Dec 3) - 'Nowhere Man' Released in Britain

The Beatles release “Nowhere Man” in the UK.

1965 (Dec 3) - 'Rubber Soul' Released

The Beatles sixth studio album Rubber Soul was released. Often referred to as a folk rock album, Rubber Soul incorporates a mix of pop, soul and folk musical styles. The title derives from the colloquialism “plastic soul”, which referred to soul played by English musicians.

1965 (Dec 3) - Last UK Tour Begins

The Beatles set out on what would be their last ever UK tour at Glasgow’s Odeon Cinema. Also on the bill, The Moody Blues The Koobas and Beryl Marsden. The last show was at Cardiff’s Capitol Cinema on 12th December.

1966 (Feb 18) - Brian Wilson Finishes 'Good Vibrations'

Beach Boy Brian Wilson finished recording the future classic song ‘Good Vibrations’, which went on to become the band’s third US number-one hit. As a child, his mother told him that dogs could pick up “vibrations” from people, so that the dog would bark at “bad vibrations” Wilson turned this into the general idea for the song.

1967 (Dec 3) - Paul & Jane to the Farm

Paul takes Jane Asher to his Scottish farmhouse for holiday.

1967 (Dec 3) - Ringo to Rome for 'Candy'

Ringo flies to Rome to begin work on the film ‘Candy’.

1968 - 'White Album' is #1 in the US

It was the group’s 12th US #1 album. The double album has no graphics or text.

1968 (Jan 20) - 'Judy In Disguise' is #1. Inspired by 'Lucy In The Sky'?


One Hit Wonders John Fred and the Playboy Band started a two week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with ‘Judy In Disguise, (With Glasses)’.  It topped at No.3 in the UK.  The song was allegedly inspired by The Beatles ‘Lucy In The Sky’.

1973 (Dec 3) - Ringo Releases 'You're 16' in the US

Ringo Starr releases “You’re Sixteen” in the US.

1977 (Dec 3) - 'Mull of Kintyre' #1 in the UK

Wings started a nine-week run at No.1 in the UK with ‘Mull Of Kintyre’. The first single to sell over 2 million copies in the UK, (it was co-written by Denny Laine who sold his rights to the song when he became bankrupt).
