1940 (Jun 23) - Stuart Sutcliffe Born

Stuart Sutcliffe, original bassist of The Beatles for eighteen months (January 1960 – June 1961). Sutcliffe was living in Hamburg, Germany at the time of his death, he died of a brain haemorrhage in an ambulance on the way to hospital on April 10th 1962, aged 22.

1962 (Jun 6) - First Beatles Recordings at What Will Become 'Abbey Road'

The first Beatles recording session took place at EMI studios. The group recorded four tracks, one of which was ‘Love Me Do’ the four musicians received payments for the session of £7.10 ($12.07) each.

1966 (Feb 18) - Brian Wilson Finishes 'Good Vibrations'

Beach Boy Brian Wilson finished recording the future classic song ‘Good Vibrations’, which went on to become the band’s third US number-one hit. As a child, his mother told him that dogs could pick up “vibrations” from people, so that the dog would bark at “bad vibrations” Wilson turned this into the general idea for the song.

1966 (Jun 23) - 'Paperback Writer' #1 in the UK

The Beatles had their tenth consecutive UK No.1 single with ‘Paperback Writer’ / ‘Rain.’ The track is marked by the boosted bass guitar sound throughout, partly in response to John Lennon demanding to know why the bass on a certain Wilson Pickett record far exceeded the bass on any Beatles records. It was also cut louder than any other Beatles record, due to a new piece of equipment used in the mastering process.

1966 (Jun 23) - Beatles Fly to Munich

The Beatles fly to Munich to open a short German tour.

1970 (Jun 23) - Ringo Records 'Beaucoups of Blues'

Ringo Starr records Beaucoups Of Blues.

1973 (Jun 23) - 'Living In The Material World' #1 in the US

George Harrison started a five-week run at No.1 on the US album chart with ‘Living In The Material World’, his second US No.1. His third studio solo album was the follow-up to 1970s acclaimed All Things Must Pass and his massive charity project, The Concert For Bangladesh

1976 (Jun 23) - Last Date of the 'Wings Over America' Tour

Paul McCartney and Wings played the last date on their Wings Over America tour at the Forum in Los Angeles.

2008 (Feb 20) - Beatles' Autographed Rolling Stones Album Auctioned

A 1976 Rolling Stones album bought for £2 at a car boot sale sold for £4,000 at an auction. The ‘Black and Blue’ LP was signed by John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Paul and Linda McCartney and George Harrison as well as members of the Rolling Stones. The seller obtained the album after haggling the cost down from £3.
