1964 (Sep 17) – Beatles Paid Record Amount for Kansas City Concert
09/17/2025 @ All Day – During a US tour The Beatles appeared at the Municipal Stadium in Kansas City. The Beatles were paid $150,000 for the show, which was more than any other act had ever been paid for a live show. Tickets cost $4.50.
1962 (Sep 17) – Beatles Wind Up Gigs in Cheshire
09/17/2025 @ All Day – The Beatles played the last of three Monday night gigs at The Queen’s Hall, Widnes, Cheshire. Also on the bill, Billy Kramer and the Coasters, Rory Storm and the Hurricanes and Sonny Kaye and the Reds. Tickets cost 3/6.

1967 (Sep 18) – Beatles Record ‘Striptease’ Scene For Magical Mystery Tour
09/18/2025 @ All Day – The Beatles journey to the Raymond Revue bar in London to film the notorious “striptease” scene in Magical Mystery Tour. Accompanying stripper Jan Carson is The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, playing a song called “Death Cab For Cutie.”
1996 (Sep 18) – Julian Lennon Buys Handwritten ‘Hey Jude’ Notes
09/18/2025 @ All Day – At Sotheby’s in London, Julian Lennon successfully bid just over $39,000 (£21,000), for the recording notes for the song Paul McCartney wrote for him, ‘Hey Jude’. At the same event, John Lennon’s scribbled lyrics to ‘Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite’ sold for $103,500, (£57,500).
2012 (Sep 18) – John Named Rock’s ‘Ultimate Icon’
09/18/2025 @ All Day – In a survey of more than 160,000 readers, British music magazine NME named John Lennon as Rock’s ultimate icon. Former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher was placed second, followed by David Bowie, Arctic Monkeys singer Alex Turner and late Nirvana icon Kurt Cobain.
