1966 (May 26) – The Beatles Record ‘Yellow Submarine’
05/26/2025 @ All Day – The Beatles recorded ‘Yellow Submarine’ at Abbey Road studios in London. Recovering from a case of food poisoning, producer George Martin missed this recording, EMI engineer Geoff Emerick worked on the session. The track features John Lennon blowing bubbles in a bucket of water, shouting “Full speed ahead Mister Captain!”

05/27/2025 @ All Day – Paul and Jane are holidaying in Portugal at the home of Shadows’ guitarist Bruce Welch. Paul ‘Yesterday’ while in the car from the airport to Welch’s home.
1962 (Jun 6) – First Beatles Recordings at What Will Become ‘Abbey Road’
05/27/2025 @ All Day – The first Beatles recording session took place at EMI studios. The group recorded four tracks, one of which was ‘Love Me Do’ the four musicians received payments for the session of £7.10 ($12.07) each.
1963 (May 27) – ‘From Me To You/Thank You Girl’ US Release
05/27/2025 @ All Day – ‘From Me to You’ and ‘Thank You Girl’ are released in the US on Vee Jay.
1957 (May 27) – Buddy Holly Releases ‘That’ll Be The Day’
05/27/2025 @ All Day – Buddy Holly and the Crickets released ‘That’ll Be The Day’ which became a UK No.1 and US No.3 hit. It was the first song to be recorded by The Quarrymen, the skiffle group that subsequently became The Beatles.

05/28/2025 @ All Day – All four Beatles spent the day with Bob Dylan in his room at the Mayfair hotel in London, England, watching rushes of D.A. Pennebakers’s forthcoming documentary film, Dont Look Back, which covered Dylan’s 1965 concert tour of the United Kingdom.
