2012 – John to Eric Clapton Letter Sold at Auction

12/31/2025 @ All Day – The letter, dated September 29, 1971, involved John asking Eric to collaborate on a musical project.  The letter had been estimated at $20-$30,000.  It sold for $35,000 at auction.

2007 – Queen Beats Out The Beatles in BBC2 Poll

01/01/2026 @ 12:00 am – Queen beat The Beatles to be crowned greatest British band of all time by BBC Radio 2 listeners in the UK.  Only 20,000 votes were cast by email, text and phone.  The bands were judged on song-writing, lyrics, live performances, originality and showmanship.  Other finalists included The Rolling Stones and Oasis.  

1962 – Decca Records Passes On The Beatles

01/01/2026 @ 12:00 am – The Beatles auditioned for Decca Records in West Hampstead, London. A&R boss at Decca Dick Rowe turned them down in what is considered one of the biggest mistakes in music industry history.   Rowe rejected the band, selecting instead Brian Poole and the Tremeloes.
