1966 (Feb 18) - Brian Wilson Finishes 'Good Vibrations'

Beach Boy Brian Wilson finished recording the future classic song ‘Good Vibrations’, which went on to become the band’s third US number-one hit. As a child, his mother told him that dogs could pick up “vibrations” from people, so that the dog would bark at “bad vibrations” Wilson turned this into the general idea for the song.

1969 (Apr 11) - 'Get Back/Don't Let Me Down' Release

‘Get Back/Don’t Let Me Down’ released in the UK.

1970 (Apr 11) - 'Let It Be' #1 in the US

The Beatles started a two week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with ‘Let It Be’. It became the group’s 19th US No.1 in 6 years. The track was a No.2 hit in the UK.

1980 (Apr 11) - Paul Releases 'Coming Up'

Paul McCartney releases ‘Coming Up’

1991 (Apr 11) - Ringo Appears on 'The Simpsons'

Ringo Starr appears on the Season 2 episode of The Simpsons. The episode is entitled ‘Brush With Greatness’.

1997 (Apr 11) - Paul Reprises Rooftop Concert

Reprising the Beatles famous rooftop concert, Paul plays two songs from his upcoming album ‘Flaming Pie’ on the roof a a London building.

2008 (Feb 20) - Beatles' Autographed Rolling Stones Album Auctioned

A 1976 Rolling Stones album bought for £2 at a car boot sale sold for £4,000 at an auction. The ‘Black and Blue’ LP was signed by John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Paul and Linda McCartney and George Harrison as well as members of the Rolling Stones. The seller obtained the album after haggling the cost down from £3.

1954 (Apr 12) - 'Rock Around The Clock' Recorded

Bill Haley recorded ‘Rock Around the Clock’ at Pythian Temple studios in New York City. Considered by many to be the song that put rock and roll on the map around the world. The song was used over the opening titles for the film ‘Blackboard Jungle’, and went on to be a world-wide No.1 and the biggest selling pop single with sales over 25 million. Written by Max C. Freedman and James E. Myers, ‘Rock Around The Clock’ was first recorded by Italian-American band Sonny Dae and His Knights.

1962 (Jun 6) - First Beatles Recordings at What Will Become 'Abbey Road'

The first Beatles recording session took place at EMI studios. The group recorded four tracks, one of which was ‘Love Me Do’ the four musicians received payments for the session of £7.10 ($12.07) each.
