1963 (Feb 7) - Vee Jay Releases 'Please Please Me' in the US

The first Beatles single ‘Please Please Me’ was released in the US on the Vee Jay label. Capitol Records, EMI’s United States label, were offered the right to release the single in the US, but turned it down. Dick Biondi, a disc jockey on WLS in Chicago and a friend of Vee-Jay executive Ewart Abner, played the song on the radio from February 1963, thus becoming the first DJ to play a Beatles record in the United States.

1964 (Feb 7) - 'All My Loving' Released in the UK

‘All My Loving’ released on Parlophone as the Beatles leave for the US.

1964 (Feb 7) - Beatles Arrive in the US for the First Time

Pan Am flight 101 was greeted by over 5,000 Beatles fans as it arrived at New York’s JFK airport, bringing The Beatles to the US for the first time and causing riotous scenes as they touched down.

1966 (Feb 18) - Brian Wilson Finishes 'Good Vibrations'

Beach Boy Brian Wilson finished recording the future classic song ‘Good Vibrations’, which went on to become the band’s third US number-one hit. As a child, his mother told him that dogs could pick up “vibrations” from people, so that the dog would bark at “bad vibrations” Wilson turned this into the general idea for the song.

1981 (Feb 7) - 'Woman' is #1 in the UK

John Lennon was at No.1 on the UK singles chart with ‘Woman’, an ode to his wife Yoko Ono. It was Lennon’s third No.1 in seven weeks after his death on December 8, 1980.

2008 (Feb 20) - Beatles' Autographed Rolling Stones Album Auctioned

A 1976 Rolling Stones album bought for £2 at a car boot sale sold for £4,000 at an auction. The ‘Black and Blue’ LP was signed by John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Paul and Linda McCartney and George Harrison as well as members of the Rolling Stones. The seller obtained the album after haggling the cost down from £3.

1962 (Feb 8) - Beatles Audition Tapes Converted to Acetates

The Beatles DECCA audition tapes are made into acetates at HMV’s shop on London’s Oxford Street. That leads to the Beatles meeting Sid Coleman, head of EMI publishing. He encourages Brian Epstein to meet with George Martin.

1964 (Feb 8) - Beatles Rehearse for 'The Ed Sullivan Show'

Beatles rehearse for ‘The Ed Sullivan Show’.   George is nursing a sore throat and is absent.

1964 (Feb 8) - Beatles Sight See on their First Day in New York

On their first full day in New York, The Beatles (minus George who had a sore throat), went for a photo-opportunity walk around Central Park. Over 400 girl fans followed The Beatles and extra police were called in to control them. Later in the day The Ronettes interviewed The Beatles for radio.
