1966 (Feb 21) - 'Nowhere Man/What Goes On' US Release

‘Nowhere Man’ and ‘What Goes On’ are released in the US on Capitol.

1967 (Feb 21) - Beatles and Pink Floyd Both Recording at Abbey Road

Pink Floyd started their first sessions at the EMI Studios, St. John’s Wood, London on their debut album The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, working on the song ‘Matilda Mother’. While Pink Floyd were recording their album with former Beatles engineer Norman Smith, The Beatles themselves were working in the studio next door, recording ‘Fixing A Hole’ for their Sgt. Pepper album. Micky Dolenz from The Monkees attended the mixing session during the day.

1968 - 'White Album' is #1 in the US

It was the group’s 12th US #1 album. The double album has no graphics or text.

1968 (Jan 20) - 'Judy In Disguise' is #1. Inspired by 'Lucy In The Sky'?

One Hit Wonders John Fred and the Playboy Band started a two week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with ‘Judy In Disguise, (With Glasses)’. It topped at No.3 in the UK. The song was allegedly inspired by The Beatles ‘Lucy In The Sky’.

1969 (Feb 21) - Mary Hopkin's Apple Album Released

Mary Hopkins’ Apple album is released. It was produced by Paul McCartney, who appears in the ‘Goodbye’ promotional video.

1970 (Feb 21) - Paul In Studio for his Solo Album

Paul is working at Abbey Road on the 8 track tapes for his solo album.

1982 (Feb 21) - Murray The K Dies

Murray The K dies at age 60. He was an early champion of The Beatles, hyping the band when they came to America and calling himself ‘The Fifth Beatle’. As a New York disc jockey, he held showcase concerts featuring many top acts including Stevie Wonder, The Lovin’ Spoonful and The Supremes.

1990 (Feb 21) - Paul Gets Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award

Paul McCartney is honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 32nd annual Grammy Awards. The Beatles only won four of the awards while active.

2008 (Feb 20) - Beatles' Autographed Rolling Stones Album Auctioned

A 1976 Rolling Stones album bought for £2 at a car boot sale sold for £4,000 at an auction. The ‘Black and Blue’ LP was signed by John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Paul and Linda McCartney and George Harrison as well as members of the Rolling Stones. The seller obtained the album after haggling the cost down from £3.

1963 (Feb 22) - Northern Songs Established

The Beatles form Northern Music Publishing along with Brian Epstein and British music publisher Dick James. The publishing house will later be owned by Michael Jackson.
